On Saturday afternoon October 19, 2024 while painting plein air with a friend, I stumbled and ruptured my Anterior Tibialis Tendon. The surgery to replace the tendon was followed by six weeks in a non-weight bearing cast. Since all I could really do was sit around the house, I focused my energies on painting. I arranged my studio to be able to paint while in a recliner with a small pochade box. I worked from photos I had taken over the past few years. These images came from our trips to Italy, Cornwall, Cape Cod, the Republic of Georgia, New Hampshire hikes, etc. I aimed for one painting a day, which I "pretty much" achieved. The paintings are quick. In some cases they are more studies than finished works. They range in size from 5x8 to 8x10 (sizes that can fit my paint box). I am grateful to my wife Toni who took wonderful care of me and to my good friend Andreas Leitner who was able to critique my work over the internet from his studio in Vienna Austria.
